Deep Magic for Fifth Edition series brings to life more than 700  new and revised spells. It also features new domains, specialities, origins, patrons, familiars, magical traps, and more! Stun your table with arcane mysteries from some of the darkest and brightest minds in game design today. A note about shipping around COVID-19 uncertainty: For Deep Magic, we've scaled back our efforts to include duty/tax/fee payments in our shipping rates to destinations outside of the US, with the exception of Canada. That means you may be required to pay appropriate duties, taxes, or fees on delivery/pickup. To limit this impact as much as possible, we’ve used graduated rates for shipping. Our intention is to get items to you with predictable rates. We’re using the United States Postal Service to ensure fixed rates and predictable expenses on our side. Thank you for understanding.

Deep Magic PDF update and errata sheet available

Dear backers,

The kobolds have been busily combing through all of your feedback about the Deep Magic tome, and we’re happy to say that the PDF has been updated with several pieces of errata incorporated.

Specifically, we identified mechanical changes, clarifications, or missing text in four places. We also identified a handful of typos and misspellings that we corrected, as well.

You can download the new PDF by going to your My Downloads page on the Kobold Press store and re-downloading the Deep Magic PDF.

To download the errata sheet and see the specifics of the mechanical changes, download the Deep Magic for 5th Edition Errata Sheet. (Only mechanical changes are listed on this sheet; corrected typos and misspellings are not, though the updates are still reflected in the Deep Magic text.)

We appreciate each and every piece of feedback that’s been submitted, whether it’s been to point out a typo or to draw attention to a larger question of mechanics.

Feel free to keep posting your questions about the text on this update or in the project’s comments. We’ll continue to take all feedback into consideration and to release further errata should it be necessary.

North American Shipping Complete!

Dear backers,

The kobolds are pleased to report that all print copies of Deep Magic have shipped to North American backers! Kobold Press is also covering the cost of customs and duties for our Canadian backers. If you’re in the U.S. or Canada, your printed books should arrive imminently—if they haven’t already.

For our European backers, we have less-glowing news. Unfortunately, the global pandemic is hitting air freight costs and logistics brutally hard. Shipping is underway, but we expect it will be several weeks until it’s complete.

Rest assured, we’re working closely with our partners on this, and as soon as we have an update, we’ll let everyone know.

Deep Magic Shirts Available!

Deep Magic PDF and VTT licenses released to backers!

The kobolds have been tunneling fiercely and have managed to tap a previously undiscovered ley line… its magic has infused them with digital arcana! Yes, dear backers, the release of Deep Magic in all of its glorious digital formats is underway!

What to Look For

By this time, if the PDF or Roll20 VTT version was in your order, you’ve received a link from BackerKit to one or more coupons. The message from BackerKit has a subject line of “New Digital Content for Deep Magic for 5th Edition: A Tome of New Spells & Arcana on BackerKit” and it is sent from [email protected].

For FantasyGrounds VTT rewards, see “Claim Fantasy Grounds Rewards” below.

Claim PDF Rewards

If your rewards include the Deep Magic PDF, you will receive an email from BackerKit. That email links to a Digital Rewards page with your coupon code. Go to https://koboldpress.com/kpstore/product/deep-magic-for-5th-edition-pdf/, add a single PDF to the cart, apply the coupon code from BackerKit, and check out as normal.

Note: Once you have purchased the PDF, you will be able to download it at any time from KoboldPress.com by clicking “Store,” then “My Accounts,” then “My Downloads.”

Claim Roll20 Rewards

If your rewards include a Roll20 license for Deep Magic, you will receive an email from BackerKit that includes a coupon code for the Roll20 Marketplace (for the VTT releases).On the Roll20 homepage, click  “Marketplace,” then “Redeem a Code” (or follow this link) to access the following page:

Enter the coupon and click “Validate Code” to have it added to your account. It will appear under the “Compendium” in your account.

Claim Fantasy Grounds Rewards

If your rewards include a Fantasy Grounds license, you will receive a separate email from Fantasy Grounds. These are sent out manually by Smiteworks, so they will trickle out over the course of the day.

Click “claim your reward” and it will direct you to the Fantasy Grounds site, where you can log in and have the rewards added to your account.

Deep Magic Release On Schedule

Hello fellow arcanists!

The kobolds have been hard at work testing and putting the final touches on the digital components of the Deep Magic products. As foreshadowed in our April update, we are on track to release the VTT and PDF content this month. And we are ready to share some dates!

Digital Release

On July 21, 2020, emails will start going out from BackerKit with keys for the PDFs and VTTs. To ensure that you don’t miss this email by having it sent to Junk Mail, consider adding [email protected] to your contact list.

  • For those of you who ordered PDF copies, you will be sent a one-time use coupon from BackerKit. To use the coupon, add a single Deep Magic PDF to your cart on the Kobold Press Store and apply the coupon at checkout. (Note: Once purchased, you will be able to download it at any time from My Accounts  > My Downloads.)
  • For those of you who ordered Roll20 VTT, you will receive a coupon code from BackerKit that you will use at the redeem a coupon link on Roll 20 (https://marketplace.roll20.net/coupon/).
  • For those of you who ordered Fantasy Grounds VTT, you will be receiving an email from SmiteWorks with the information you need.

Print Release

We're very happy to report that the Deep Magic book is going smoothly as a physical hardcover item, and, assuming the world doesn’t spin into further chaos, we will be shipping the rewards to backers by the last week of August.

The book itself is 356 pages, and it is loaded with great art. We’re very, very excited to be able to share it with you soon. Printing and binding is always the most painful part of the release process for us, because we sit and wait and KNOW it’s a great book and that it’s almost here.
