Stun your table with arcane mysteries from some of the darkest and brightest minds in game design today. A note about shipping around COVID-19 uncertainty: For Deep Magic, we've scaled back our efforts to include duty/tax/fee payments in our shipping rates to destinations outside of the US, with the exception of Canada. That means you may be required to pay appropriate duties, taxes, or fees on delivery/pickup. To limit this impact as much as possible, we’ve used graduated rates for shipping. Our intention is to get items to you with predictable rates. We’re using the United States Postal Service to ensure fixed rates and predictable expenses on our side. Thank you for understanding.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

What is Magic: Chaos
over 6 years ago – Wed, Oct 09, 2019 at 01:05:41 AM

In this series, we explore the different subschools (specialties/styles) of magic that appear in Deep Magic. We hear from the designers on the subschools and their thought processes, ideas, and the general “feel” behind the subschools. These subschools can be used individually to introduce one extra layer or type of spellcasting to your world or they can all be used together to showcase a diverse array of spellcasting disciplines in your world.

Today’s subschool is chaos. Designer Greg Marks has the following to say about chaos magic:

The ability to channel and manipulate raw arcane power belongs to sorcerers alone—at least, that’s what the mainstream schools of magic would have you believe. But a handful of wizards and bards have mastered something similar, called chaos magic. Dominating the chaotic energy of change itself leads a spellcaster along a narrow path that circles a pit of madness. Those who cling tenaciously to the path and avoid slipping into that roiling pit are rewarded with exceptional gifts. These practitioners, known as chaos mages (wizards) or luck stealers (bards), learn to alter reality through strength of will alone.

What is Magic: Blood

Today’s subschool is blood. Designer Chris Harris has the following to say about blood magic:

Though ruthless practitioners of the arcane arts may sacrifice the blood and souls of others with little thought, most would view shedding their own blood as distasteful at the least, and potentially deadly at worst. Yet there is much power to be tapped in the veins of those willing to shed such taboos, and the lust for power drives many such villains. A hidden history of dark deeds in secret places birthed the school of blood magic. Those who command the power such knowledge brings may be reviled wherever they go, but they are feared all the more.

What is Magic: Angelic Seals
over 6 years ago – Sat, Oct 05, 2019 at 12:25:09 AM

In this series of updates, we explore the different subschools of magic that appear in Deep Magic. We hear from the designers on the subschools and their thought processes, ideas, and the general “feel” behind the subschools. These subschools can be used individually to introduce one extra layer or type of spellcasting to your world or they can all be used together to showcase a diverse array of spellcasting disciplines in your world.

Today's subschool is angelic. Designer Dan Dillon has the following to say about angelic magic:

The magic of Angelic Seals introduces a path for wizards to tap into heavenly powers. Through studying seals that combine mystic sigils and Celestial language script expressions of an angel's name, the wizard can tap into that angel's essence and draw on its power. Scribing these seals onto slips of parchment or trinkets, the wizard can impart these benefits to their allies, protecting or empowering them, or calling down divine retribution on their foes. It's easy for magic to run into the darker paths sometimes, but angelic scribes and other spellcasters can also learn individual spells that draw upon angelic nature and themes, running the gamut from protection and rebuke of fiendish creatures, to the power of righteousness striking down its foes with holy light.

New Spells!
over 6 years ago – Thu, Oct 03, 2019 at 08:34:04 PM

Though this Deep Magic book will be compiling our previous Deep Magic books, it also includes over 100 new spells! Our designers spent long hours in the kobold warrens toiling away with arcane powers we can’t even name! Scales crackling with arcane energy and knowledge, designer Jeff Lee gave us insight into some of the new spells he’s created for your game:

I love playing spellcasters! When I play one, I prefer to have a variety of magic to choose from, so my character can be ready for nearly any situation. In the 100+ new spells I created, I tried to provide that sort of variety for those of you who feel the same.

Is your wizard looking for new ways to damage your opponents? I've got you covered. Use dread wings to summon a swarm of shadow bats to frighten opponents while dealing necrotic damage. Does your sorcerer need a little something for those nasty undead encounters? Try burning radiance, and blast out a line of light that deals radiant damage and sets opponents on fire.

Everyone needs solid defensive magic as well. If your druid is tired of monsters trying to have her for lunch, she can cast poisonous flesh, so the next time a creature bites her, it takes poison damage and gets poisoned. It's even worse for the monster if it swallows the druid whole—so much so it just might spit her back out! Got an NPC picking on your bard? Cast unruly item and have a laugh while they try to fight with a sword that keeps squirming out of their hand or chase you when their armor is shifting around and getting in the way.

Maybe battlefield control is more your thing. Have some enemies closed on your sorcerer while the fighter was way over there dicing ghouls? Your sorcerer can cast swift exchange as a reaction when they’re attacked and instantly switch positions with the fighter. The fighter gets back into melee while the sorcerer gets some room to cast. Need to clear a path through the minions to the big bad? Have the ranger cast sudden stampede, and fey spirits manifest as galloping horses that run through the area, bludgeoning opponents and knocking them prone.

Utility spells? We’ve got you covered there, too. Stranded without food? Cast adaptive digestion and graze on grass or eat your own shoes—anything so long as it’s organic. Tired of cutting your way through the jungle? Cast aspect of the ape, gain a climb speed, advantage on Athletics checks made to climb or jump, and get special movement options when swinging from branch to branch.

Have a friend who loves playing spellcasters? Or a friend who has recently succumbed to the siren call of the arcane? The above is just a small sample of the new spells you'll find in Deep Magic! New magic for warlocks, for clerics, for whatever spellcasting class you and your friends like to play, can be found in Deep Magic!
